I’m ok with the two week turnaround. I just wanted to buy the variable clutch to have it available later. Later being when I’m ready to send in my clutch basket and primary cover. Next year, or whenever I’m ready, I don’t know if Lloyds will still be making their variable clutch. The clutch basket and the primary cover are the easy parts.

My mistake. I should have just called Rylan. Someone who still does Victory full time.

I tried to buy the Variable Clutch this week. They said no, you need to send in your clutch basket and primary cover. And that only Lloyd can assemble them. I said I only wanted to start collecting the parts now I know I’ll need when I’m ready to start the actual big bore build. Nope, no sale.

Track used to offer two sets of their side dump 2 into 1 Hot Rod system. A set for the Steel frame bikes and a set for Cross bikes. The Cross bike set came with saddlebag brackets.

Not sure if they still offer both sets.

Yup. Regarding the Tri Ovals, my thoughts have been no other set of slip ons offer as High, as Wide or as Flat a torque curve on a dyno graph. Many slip ons offer a higher number somewhere on the graph. But, to me, the Tri Ovals offer an excellent trifecta balance of a High, Wide and Flat torque curve.

Sound is very subjective. Again, many other slip ons offer more noise. Tri Ovals offer a well balance rumble.

Rylan, where are Tri Ovals on your scale regarding hp and torque? From dyno graphs I’ve seen posted, they always have that “table top top” torque curve but they give up 3 to 4 in the max Hp and max Torque numbers.

Their sound, for me, is quite pleasing.

Didn’t Lloyd abandon his 116” big bore kit? If so, it only makes sense, in his mind, to also abandon his big bore cam.

So glad Revolution entered and still makes their 117” big bore kit.

Many years ago KevixX (Cross) posted that cutting off the Tri Oval baffle, leaving a 3″ stub on the end Y connector made them sound great. Though I never saw a before and after dyno graph and wouldn’t know if the Tri Ovals would then lose one of the best attributes; the “Table Top Flat” torque curve.

I found a nos set of all black Tri Ovals I installed on my Hard-Ball, along with a Maximus remote tune. Then I found another nos all chrome set of Tri Ovals I’ll likely put on my CCT. My CCT went from the original all chrome Tri Ovals, to a set of Raging Cajun Medium Low & Throaty. Then to a set of Raging Cajun Adjustable DDT’s. And now, I’ll likely go back to another all chrome set of Tri Ovals.

Does my PCV tune need to be adjusted going from the Raging Cajun mufflers back to Tri Ovals? I did have it adjusted when I went from the Tri Ovals to the Raging Cajuns. Though I don’t know how much of an adjustment was done to the PCV tune.

Would I need another re-tune on the PCV going back to Tri Ovals? In addition to t Raging Cajun mufflers, the other items on the CCT are Lloyds DR cams, Lloyds timing wheel and a Lloyds air filter.

Rylan, about 10 years ago you taught me the Tri Ovals have a beautiful “table top” flat torque curve. This was as you were installing Lloyds DR cams and a PCV on my CCT. It’s great to see you’re now reworking OEM mufflers for better sound and performance. My question is: have you ever done or looked into doing something similar to the Tri Ovals mufflers?

Oh my, that’s a lot of destruction. What kind of mileage is on your bike? Did the clutch have a proper amount of freeplay at the lever before all these parts crashed into themselves? Sorry to ask but; what oil has been in this engine and what have been the oil change intervals?

Did the clutch basket nut come loose by chance?

Rylan, do you have a machined out primary cover on the shelf I could purchase? Or am I better off sending you a primary cover I can pick up on places like eBay? It doesn’t matter to me if the primary cover is black or chrome because I’ll get it powder coated to match the other engine covers I already have powder coated. What matters is the primary cover doesn’t have any scratches or gouges as the powder coat is a cross between a smooth semi gloss finish and a smooth matte gloss finish. Meaning, no texture so any underlying scratches or road rash would show up through the powder coat.

After the primary cover, I’ll be looking for an intact oem clutch for you to modify into a Lloyds variable clutch.

Rylan, any update on your Cross bike mufflers? Are they better suited for a stock 106″, a modified 106″ or a 117″ big bore?

Have you started your 117″ big bore project yet? Just curious as I want to do the same to my Hard-Ball. Also, what are you doing with your clutch? From what I was taught, the Lloyds Variable Clutch is needed with a big bore. Does Lloyds even still offer his Variable Clutch for Victory?
