Its either the bearings running dry or there a build up of rust between the stator and the armature core, the later happened to my 2012 XC took it apart, clean it, oiled the bearings and sealed the armature with clear laquer.
This I did 4 years ago and still running quiet after 35000 miles.
Rylan has a video of how to get the starter motor out and service it.- This reply was modified 1 year, 8 months ago by John.

Like the mod a simple fix.
I ended up fitting a fan to the oil cooler as we are getting much hotter days here and in Europe to get around the vapour lock problem. -
Same happened to mine they are made of a cheap Alu alloy and its only a mater of time before the chrome peels off it took 2 years in the UK now paint black.

Morning Rylan
Great to see a new forum for Victory only, the rest are getting a bit diluted with strange stuff, been a follower of yours for a long time totally understand the time you must spend with customers and enquires hopefully this will make it easier for you.
I’am on my 4th victory now a XC 2012 with 72K miles living in the UK.
Safe riding uk John -
I looked in to getting them re chrome and the chromers said they would just peel of again after a couple of years riding due to the alloy used and the exhaust gases, so painted them black
They were made by Cobra exhaust USA and it seems they no longer stock parts for these exhaust made for Victory.
