I have never heard a starter make this noise or wear out the bearing and bushing. The armature looked nice and clean so I don’t think that wear is a big problem. It had only been making the noise for a month or so. I did not feel any play either. I suspect the brushes will need replaced before the bearing and bushing cause the noise to come back i would think if they went dry and that did not cause them to go way out of tolerance then having lubed them should be good for a another 30k. By then the brushes will probably be a bit short. Finding any of those parts sounds like a challenge. I suspect a used starter would be the thing to pick up when I see one on ebay.

Oh, one more thing. So you think it is that the bearing (part number (4060156). If that is a oneway bearing that would explain the price. I just cannot understand how it could make the noise that it is apparently making. I will find out soon enough

Thanks. I knew a couple guys that started businesses that were just used honda cbx parts. I think it worked well for them. I am seeing the possibility for the same thing with visions or Victory parts. It would also give me a reason to keep buying more of these bikes. I will be surprised if they don’t become collectible. Some or most older models just drop off into obscurity. I doubt the vision will. What do you think?

So does the shop sell any used parts. I read somewhere that you might have some parts available.

I got it off. Now what can I do with it. Is there any internal battery that could be bad. I really would love to get it working. That brings up the question of will a new Garman interface with the bike like this one did. The plug looks a bit dry rotted but it looks like it was making good contact.

I never like hearing that I cannot fix something. I guess it is time to buy another GPS.

Thank you for the confirmation. Any suggestions where you would buy that part. Is it only available through Polaris.
