  • Radial tires for Gunner

i have a few questions on this topic.

    1. Does it make sense to try and find radial tires for the gunner or is it overkill with the lean angle of the bike?

    2. If so, I’m having trouble finding radials in my size. Front 130/90/16 – Rear – 140/90/16. Is there a recommended performance brand i should be looking at? I cannot find the avon cobras in my size.

    3. What other sizes would fit on the bike with stock rims without making the bike less nimble?

    Thanx

I have Avon Chromes on my Gunner:

    Front: 130/90/16

    Rear: 170/70/16

They have been on the bike 2 seasons now and I like them.

It is said that 170 is as wide as you want to go on the stock ( 3.5″ ) wheels. Some would say that 170 is too wide. I have had no issues with the tires. You can go up to 200 on the rear but you need to go with a wider rim. For example, the 5″W 18″D Vegas wheels.

I assume those are bias ply tires?

I’ve got 180/65/16 on the rear with the stock size 130/90/16 up front on my 2015 Gunner. Same rim for the rear. First season with the larger tire and I like it.

On my rebel 1100 and my hammer I run metzler cruisetec. I will never go back. Dual compound with a sport bike curve for handling. It will be night and day.
