If you want all thought taken out of the equation, then just call Haul Bikes. They take a while and may not be the cheapest (although they are not unreasonable) but the bike will be well cared for. I’ve always been impressed with the Haul Bikes team, even though sometimes it takes a while for the bike to arrive.
And then you have the Wild West of independent Hot Shot truckers. I’ve seen the gamut from $300,000 diesel pickups pulling top of the line 50′ trailers piloted by guys with khakis and tucked-in polos, to clapped out 50 year old pickups filled with trash and live chicken crates driven by a morbidly obese guy with a stained wife-beater who makes you unload as he can’t get himself into the bed of the truck.
It all comes down to you doing your homework on that person.
