  • Cross Bikes in hot weather – Vapor Lock

When the weather is extremely hot the Cross Country models have been know to be more prone to vapor lock than other bikes. A quick and easy way to help prevent this would be to tie up the fuel line that rests on the hot engine. In the picture you can see I used an inexpensive, generic clamp bolted to an unused bolt hole in the throttle body. To note: nothing is interfering with the movement of the throttle body linkages and the clamp is rubber coated to prevent chafing through the fuel line.

This is especially true if you have the Lloydz SC kit installed. During the installation the fuel rail got moved to the other side, more “inside” of the cylinders and the vapor lock became a BIG issue (duck walking down Main St in Daytona really heated the engine up with no moving air around it !)…

Solution was to move the fuel rail back to the outside and slightly away from the heat… vapor lock red !!!

Like the mod a simple fix.
I ended up fitting a fan to the oil cooler as we are getting much hotter days here and in Europe to get around the vapour lock problem.
